DIVING WITH RAYS & MOLA MOLA IN SERENE BALI

Bali offers some of the most beautiful diving in the world, letting adventurers get up close and personal with diverse ocean life, decades old battleship wrecks and more. A favourite of tourists around the world with good reason, it’s a fantastic, easily accessible alternative to more remote areas of Indonesia.

Despite its small size, Bali offers an exceptional selection of diving environments. Activities on offer include:

  • Wall diving in Menjangan
  • Macro diving Puri Jati, Padang Bai and Seraya
  • Sightings of tropical fish and smaller critters such as leaf fish, octopus and nudibranchs.
  • USAT Liberty in Tulamben for wreck divers
  • Manta ray and mola mola sightings in Nusa Penida

Travelling by liveaboard is the only way to take in all this jewel has to offer, with itineraries lasting between five and seven nights and the best diving occurring between May and November.

Build the holiday you want

Whether you’re based on a liveaboard or one of the island’s stunning, modern resorts, you’ll have all the diving opportunities you want. Spots are located around the islands with many visitors splitting their time across a number of destinations to get a more diverse look at this beautiful place.

Liveaboards give divers access to areas such as Komodo & Lombok, giving you even more choice. Bali is the perfect base for a liveaboards adventure through Indonesia thanks to its accessible international airport.

The island’s status as a popular tourist destination has led to an explosion in the number of high-quality resorts across the island, ensuring that no matter where you’ve chosen to dive, there’s a beautiful place to call home just nearby.

Bali is home to some of the world’s most diverse sea life, sitting right on Wallace’s Line, a transitional zone between the marine ecosystems of Asia and Australia. Introduced in 2010, the National Marine Park around Bali’s waters preserves the biodiversity and beauty of this area, ensuring that you’ll be able to return to this paradise for years to come.

TOP TIPS FOR DIVERS

  • Fairly strong currents are a feature on most sites, but calmer sites are available for less experienced diverse.
  • Access is via boat and shore usually on the very small local jukungs
  • Donning and doffing is required in water.
  • SMBs and finger spools are recommended to assist in marking your location should you ascend to an unexpected location.
  • While sites with high levels of visibility and crystal clear water are sought out, the lack of references can disorient divers.
  • Maintain good buoyancy control, whilst consistently checking your dive computer or depth gauge.

Listen to your guides who will make you aware of any risks.
